5/11/25 - Weekly Updates

Ok, I’m going to try to hold myself to this but I want to do a weekly announcement (and this may become a live stream or something in the future. Just to make it a little easier for me.

Recent Update

Over the past couple years I teased a new system that we custom developed, while I wanted to do this and I had it almost ready to go I just couldn’t see posting content, running the community and maintaining it all by myself (as well as keeping up with my personal life). Maybe in the future we can re-visit it. There was also some things I felt I couldn’t get up to my standards (e.g. a wysiwyg editor that was easy for everyone to use yet that I liked).

A little History

For those who have been around for a while you know we started with vBullitin forums then moved to Discourse (this system) and over the past few years when I brought everything back online after about 6 months of being offline we were on Xenforo. When we were on Discourse the first time it wasn’t widely used and wasn’t what people were used to so thats why I decided to make the switch to Xenforo, however in retrospect I should of stayed on Discourse as I think it was a better fit for our community. Hindsight is 20/20 right? Anyways I think this is where we are going to stay for the foreseeable future.

Goals

My goal with The Computer Crowd (now I.T. Bible) has always been to help each other grow either in IT (for those who work in the field) or to help homelabbers learn. Several of us started our IT careers after having a homelab. I’ve always wanted to share projects of our community with each other and have a central place for support and encouragement. I think most people here also like to see pictures of each other’s setups also.

What I need from you

Really, I just need your time, take time to read posts, post some comments or topics in our forums and if you’re up to it share content on social media to help find other members that are a good fit in our community.
