I feel like Networking, Servers, Workstations should be their own category, but also that they shouldn’t be their own category because I don’t feel like there is enough sub-categories under them…
I kind of want to propose something like this (what is everyone’s thoughts)
___________ (category not sure what to name it)
— Networking (general overall networking)
------ Hardware (sub topic)
------ Operating Systems (sub topic)
— Servers (topic)
------ Hardware (sub topic)
------ Operating Systems (sub topic)
--------- Windows (sub sub topic, or maybe labels)
--------- Linux (sub sub topic, or maybe labels)
— Workstations (topic)
------ Hardware (sub topic)
------ Operating Systems (sub topic)
--------- Windows (sub sub topic, or maybe labels)
--------- Mac (sub sub topic, or maybe labels)
I agree that the category structure could be revised a bit. I like where your head is at with what you proposed above. Let me think on this one a bit and I will come back with any suggestions I come up with.
I do like this, but I think splitting the OS category out would help some, and generally the OS falls under one of the main categories anyways, obviously green is additions, yellow is changes and red are removals. Thoughts? I think this looks a little cleaner. Prefixes are the tag like thing that you see in the “Published Content” forum, you can also filter by these when inside the forum. I also think Firewalls should be in the networking category, I wonder if I can link a forum in multiple categories…
General
– Announcements
– Published Content: I’d like to get a group of creators posting content here and not just me, but I want there to be an approval process for that access (e.g. I don’t want people posting random stuff here, but then again I guess they could just post to the related forum too…

– Remote Access & Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI)
Servers
– Server Hardware
– Server Operating Systems: We could add prefixes Windows, Ubuntu, CentOS, etc

I had to make a few changes to the categories (e.g. I think I had to add a couple) but I think everything is there and all the old topics have been moved… I’m not completely sold on all of the descriptions but for now I think they are decent.
Now to figure out what to do on the Discord side of things… :cautious:
