Hey guys,

I’m looking for a decent open source or free screen/desktop recorder. I’ve heard Camstudio the free version is laggy and not very good…

Would appreciate your input.

Thanks.

Why not just use OBS Studio? You can setup different scenes for different windows and then hot key over to each window (which will either add a fade or a cut in).

Cool thank you, first i’ve heard of this software. Then again i’ve never done any tutorials before.

Thanks again Connor.

If OBS Studio is a bit too complicated and you want something a bit more straight forward by all means try out Nvidea shadowplay (provided you have a nvidea graphics card). IMO the video captured looks better than an other screen recorders and its free.

Try it out, let me know what works better for you

As with anything it depends on what you’re recording in… My last little intro / outro was 150ish MB and it was like 7 mins.

I almost always record in 1080p, but like if you see us streaming the webcam’s will be in 720p but the output of the video will be 1080p.
