Guys, I am calling upon your ideas

I have a LOT of servers laying round doing nothing right now, a couple of 2950’s and 3 supermicro -ish type things and I wanna know what you guys think I should with them for a fun project …

Ideas anyone??

I mean with that much hardware, I’m not a server master or anything, but I’m sure you could start some kind of local server/website hosting thing, once I get better I plan on hosting websites for small business for cheap seeing as I have more server power than I need. I don’t a bad idea but an idea at that!

You could always stop buying / acquiring more of them 😛

Well I do kinda plan to sell these older ones to help pay for some more new servers. But I figured I might as well collect another 2950 since I already had one + a spare parts unit.

You seem that have already what i’m interest in Liam 😛 pfsense/proxmox, i’m not sure what stage your at in your career, but in your video you did not speak about monitoring like nagios or shinken? You could try to make your self a radio server if you buy some intenna, try to find an utility with your other hobby? Cisco lab?

Or i could pay the shipping and you could give me one 😉 , long trip to canada

We are going to do a video with the monitoring question, we were kind of just waiting for a few more questions.

Yes, My video was very vague as I have what I would call a Cluster **** of a setup. If I was to mention all the VM’s and servers I had running, all the applications and how I use them, all the different VLAN’s and what they do the video would have got boring real quick. Also being that it was my first speaky YT video I wasn’t thinking all the best. Call me camera shy if you like.

Also are you meaning FM Radio or 5GHz data links? Because I already have a mast with radio antennas sending data all round the place ;D

I forgot to mention, I have observium for looking at stats, and a couple of other small monitoring systems, however I’m looking into Zabbix currently.

If i would have time and money i would check for that cause i have a wireless headset are not soo great, you’re video was good, i’m thiking to do one too but i would really need some pratice to express myself in english cause it not my primary language. soo i’m shy too 😅 I would be nice just too know what type of application you are running, i’m not really interrest on the vlan or subnet..

Sell the cruddy AMD servers not worth using to costly to run.

I’d sell anything that doesn’t support Virtualization or Hyperthreading. Why pay more hydro for old stuff?
